04 May UK Supreme Court orders new air quality limits
On April 29 2015, the United Kingdom (UK) Supreme Court Justices unanimously ordered the Government to deliver new air quality limits by December 2015. This ruling effectively forces the Government to reduce diesel vehicle emissions which are the dominant source of Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2), regardless of which party forms the next UK Government following the upcoming election. The ruling also means that the Government must compile and implement a comprehensive plan to meet air pollution limits which must include measures such as low emission zones, congestion charges and other economic incentives.
