Anthony was invited by the Organising Committee to attend the China Mining Conference and Exhibition 2015 in Tianjin to speak in the Green Mining Panel session hosted by the China Mining Association and also launch a white paper based on his vast knowledge of worlds best practice in environmental protection, compliance and management.

Green Mining Panel – Wednesday 21st October 2015

Presenting strategies and solutions for environmental protection in the Chinese mining industry, Anthony was asked his opinions on innovations in this sphere – discussing exactly what resource innovation means, what it can look like, and how it can be used to build a cleaner future for China.

This panel also provided the opportunity for Anthony to introduce an alliance of Australian and international companies to provide technology, counsel and support for the Chinese mining market.

Focusing on the role of innovative environmental technologies in environmental protection, the main themes of this session were:

  • Operational comparisons of green mines in China and other countries
  • Comparison of leading science and technology of green mines in China and other countries
  • The ecology in the mining industry in the 13th Five Year Plan (2016-2020)
  • Current green mining development projects

Anthony provided insights based on his Environmental Regulation and Management experience in Mining and Government, with this panel discussion very well received by the audience and Chinese media. 

White Paper Launch – Tuesday 20th October 2015

As part of the conference, Anthony was also invited by the Global Mining Association of China (GMAC) to contribute the Environmental Management component of the White Paper ‘A Survey of Obstacles in China to Inbound and Outbound Mining Investments (First Edition)’.

Launching this white paper on the future of mining in China, Anthony participated in a discussion of his research and findings as co-author. Addressing the issues and opportunities for both inbound and outbound Chinese mining investment, his aim was to inform and inspire by identifying game changing technology, procedures and policy that can facilitate the continued improvement of environmental protection in the resource sector… with far-reaching social, economic and health benefits across China, Asia and beyond.
